Emma Watson trades in her wizard robe for haute couture garb.

Not since her days as the feisty Hermione in the Harry Potter series or the time of her dramatic pixie cut have folks talked much about Emma Watson. But this spring all eyes have returned to the little-wizard-that-was with the launch of Watson’s first collection of eco-friendly duds, Pure Threads. A collaboration with the esteemed Italian designer Alberta Ferretti, Watson’s sustainable, yet youthful capsule collection includes five lace-embellished pieces—two dresses, a shirt, a long skirt and a denim short—a top match of Watson’s gamine charms and Ferretti’s romantic flourishes.

“I’m pleased that a luxury brand such as Alberta Ferretti has decided to create ecological clothes. I believe this is a big step forward for all of the international fashion industry, but also an important step for an increased sensitivity to the problem of ecology,” Watson told WWD.

Newly launched on March 22, the 21-year-old’s fancy frocks are made in Italy from Global Organic Textiles Standard-certified organic cotton. Plus, a portion of proceeds (prices range $340-$1,010) from the low-impact clothing gets donated to UK-based People Tree charity. Pure Threads are available exclusively online.

Saturday, April 16 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday, April 17 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), the Go Green Expo is open to the public. Admission is $15 for the entire weekend, or bring your old laptop, cell phone, or LCD screen for on-site recycling and get in FREE. In between discussion panels on “living the green life,” you can enjoy organic treats and yoga classes by LA Yoga.

Eco-chic looks we love.

All eyes were on Natalie Portman as she accepted her award for Actress in a Leading Role at the Oscars. We applaud her win for Black Swan, but it’s her in-the-know, ethical fashion sense that has our attention. On the red carpet, this eco-chick wears glam gowns and timeless looks by designers like Stella McCartney (who shares Portman’s eco-friendly sensibility). Out of the spotlight, however, she opts for laid-back wear telling InStyle magazine “I usually dress very casual…I’m always like ‘Can’t I just wear sweatpants?’”

Check out some of our favorite eco-looks:

1. Portman’s “daily uniform” consists of Los Angeles-based designer James Perse’s sweat pants, comfy tees and animal-friendly Converse and sandals.

For a budget-friendly version of this uniform, we suggest Alternative Apparel’s Eco-Heather Long Pant, a vintage tee from thrift shops like Goodwill, and these converse-style kicks.

2. Eco-gal Portman opted for a canvas tote by Loomstate in lieu of a handbag – the perfect look for a trip to your local farmers’ market!

5. As an avid animal lover Portman – who has been a vegetarian since the age of eight and became a vegan after reading Johnathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals – never wears fur, leather or any other product made from animal. (Dior even designed vegan-friendly shoes for her as she shot ads for her new campaign as the face of Dior’s Miss Dior Cherie perfume.) Portman was recently spotted wearing these vegan black satin Labrie pumps by Aldo with a long black halter dress by Michael Kors.

Your Daily Thread kept an eye on all of the looks that came down the runway at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). From jewel tones to prints and 70s inspired collections, we’ve got everything you need to know about what you will wear come fall.

Here are five looks and trends we love and how you can wear them right now:

1. Easy Does It

Keep things simple with light-weight fabrics that flow over your form, like those sent down the runway by Halston. We simply adore this pale pink number by Erin Fetherston.

Get the look: Opt for a light fabric in cream colors like this organic cotton scoop neck dress by Bassike in Sand.

2. Emerald City

Jewel tones dazzled the runways of many designers, including Badgley Mischka and Jenni Kayne. We’re particularly taken with this lapis look seen at the Malandrino show.

Get the look: Add a thick black belt and pair of ankle booties to this Cmarchuska bamboo dress or opt for this dress in Burgundy or Green by Your Daily Thread fave, American Apparel.

3. We’re Sensing a Pattern…

Some would call it art, others call it fashion. Regardless, we can all appreciate the colorful patterns and prints that took over the runways of Rachel Roy and Proenza Schouler. We’re mad about this look by eco-designer Edun.

Get the look: While a style like this could make for an awesome DIY project (paint-by-splatter anyone?) Josh Podoll’s Siphon Wrap Blouse paired with a pair of black skinny jeans or tapered trousers makes for less mess and all style.

4. Get Your Groove On

The 70s were in full swing on the runways of Tracy Reese, Milly and Tory Burch. Marc by Marc Jacobs perfectly captured the era with gold tones, psychedelic patterns and this printed silk jumpsuit. We’re really digging this style.

Get the look: Shake your groove thang in these silk trousers by Ryann and a pair of stellar platforms.

5. High Shine

Alice + Olivia and Jason Wu show us that embellishments aren’t just for arts and crafts. You’ll sparkle in a look like this by Alice + Oliva.

Get the Look: This cream colored sequined tank by Edun is perfect for layering under a blazer or cardigan or wearing on its own for a night on the town.
