“E”-lebrities (and YDT) Go Green At The 2009 Environmental Media Awards

Michael Rady of Melrose Place gives us great tips for going green. On Sunday October 25th, Hollywood (and YDT) went green for the 20th Annual Environmental Media Awards.  On hand for the honorous occasion were Amy Smart, Sir Richard Branson, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin McHale from the Fox hit show Glee, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Mraz, Michael Rady from Melrose Place and many other hot names in the entertainment business.

Eight films and television programs were awarded for their outstanding contributions to protect our environment. Winners included Walt Disney Studios Earth, the film The Cove, the show Brothers and Sisters and also the children’s animated Wild About Safety-Timon and Pumbaa: Safety Smart Goes Green.

Sarah Backhouse and YDT Founder Tracy Hepler are pretty green things at the 2009 EMA's.

The Environmental Media Association was founded by Lyn and Norman Lear and Cindy and Alan Horn back in 1989. Their main goal is to “honor film and television productions and individuals that increase public awareness of environmental issues and inspire personal action on these issues.”

With the green movement continuing to receive Hollywood support, we’re sure the EMA founders are proud.  The green community of LA was out in full force to celebrate the event too including Sarah Backhouse and Taryn Hipwell of  Eco Divas TV, Lauren Selman of Ecorazzi, Sarah Shewey of Pink Cloud Events and others.

Sarah Backhouse and YDT’s  Tracy Hepler were styled courtsey of Vie Bungalow in sustainably stylish Elena Garcia.

LA Fashion Week Shows Green With The Battalion

685318487_EHCQW-MThough it doesn’t get nearly as much coverage as it’s sister show in NYC, LA’s Fashion Week certainly has a clout all its own–especially when it comes to Eco-Fashion.  YDT got to attend the show of one of our favorite local (made here in L.A.) eco designers The Battalion.

The 2010 Spring Collection, titled L’Atelier de Danse transformed me to a place where rustic adventure met  chic.  According to sisters Linda and Chrys Wong  “Spring 2010 is about fluidity, transparency, and movement.  We imagined dancers in a naturally lit atelier, dressed up in various costumes that are made of tulle, fring and paper thin jersey.  If women are going back to the basics in the coming season, we want their clothes to be simple but sincere.  We want their wardrobe staples to be wearable, but dream.  We want them to dance, dream and fall in love like the dancers who have inspired this collection.”

For us–it was also great to see an ethical, locally made and produced line get so much acclaim.  We hope to continue to see more eco-fashion designers headlining shows next year–and look forward for what The Battalion will continue to produce.  You can watch a you tube of the complete fashion show below.

Live Earth.org Mentions YDT as a Guide to Live Well Every Day

YDT Live Earth

We were honored to work with Live Earth during their “Love, the Climate” Campaign that engaged citizens across American to contact their senators and represenatives and tell them that Climate Friendly Policy is important to them.  We worked with amazing sustainable brands like Solio, Woolly Pocket, Schwinn, To-Go Ware, Chivas Skincare, Eco-Usables, Sustainable Group and more.  Over 4,000 individuals participated in the campaign and made an impact by contacting their representatives. Live Earth was kind enough to give YDT a little praise on their site too.
