Weekend Guide
Your weekend doesn’t getty any better than this!
IMBIBE
You: are a firm believer in the power of collaborations—take TED, Twitter, and Emma Watson and Alberta Ferretti for example.
Which is why you will enjoy: ColLAboration’s pop-up beer garden hosted by the folks that brought you Surly Goat, Blue Palms Brew House, Mohawk Bend and 38° Ale House & Grill (among others).
Why? Not only will you go home with a belly full of beer and local grub, but your very own membership glass, which will get you into this and all future ColLAboration beer gardens!
Location: 8950 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 90069 (map). Date/Time: Saturday, July 9 from 12 to 9 p.m. Web: collaboration.la.
LISTEN
You: will want to steer clear of the 405 next weekend…we’re just sayin’.
This weekend, however, cruise: down (or up) the highway and exit at Getty Center Drive for Saturdays off the 405 at the Getty Center.
Why? Kick off the countdown to Carmageddon with Getty-tinis, musical performances by L.A.-based bands like Best Coast, and more.
Location: 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, 90049 (map). Date/Time: Saturday, July 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. Web: getty.edu.
DANCE
You: love to dance, but hate waiting in line to get into a club that – let’s face it – just doesn’t live up to the hype.
Visit: the Santa Monica Pier every Thursday evening, now through September, for their Twilight Dance Series.
Why? House music, overpriced cocktails and wannabe hipsters just don’t measure up to live music, fresh air and sipping craft beers and California wines seaside.
Location: 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, 90401 (map). Date/Time: Every Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. Web: santamonicapier.org.
GROW
You: would like to know just how to make your garden grow.
While Christy Wilhelmi of Gardenerd: may not use silver bells or cockle shells, she will share her tips to successful small space, organic vegetable gardening at tonight’s “Eat Your Garden: Organic, Urban Gardening in Your Backyard” workshop in Venice.
Why? In addition to learning which veggies are most suitable for Southern California’s climate, you will learn how to harvest your bounty along with some simple recipes to help you make the most of said harvest.
Location: 2100 Zeno Place, Venice, 90291 (map). Date/Time: Tonight, Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m. RSVP: Here. Web: ilandeistudio.com.
