Stript It Good

Stript It Good

Leave without a hair – er, care in the world.

Bikini waxes: you hate them, but let’s face it: with beach bashes, pool parties and Fourth of July BBQs right around the corner, you downright need ‘em. If you’re feeling like an adventurous gal, you could try a drugstore-bought DIY kit, or you could save yourself the hassle and visit one of L.A.’s newest waxing salons, Stript Wax Bar located on West 3rd Street.

Having opened only two weeks ago, this waxing boutique has truly earned its “strips” – and we should know as we tested it out ourselves! Owner Katherine Goldman began Stript Wax Bar because she wanted to offer a place where girls (and guys too) could go that specializes in “down-there” needs.

While waxing can be a pain (pun intended), Goldman has taken every precaution to make the experience as smooth and tolerable as possible. Once you’ve entered the boudoir-meets-Hollywood glam boutique, you’ll be offered a beverage such as wine (take it, your nerves will thank you for it!), and then you’ll be shown into a private, yet surprisingly spacious – and may we add very clean – room.

Using a hard wax made from natural beeswax and organic essential oils, your esthetician will skillfully work her magic. Unlike some other waxing salons (which shall remain nameless) they are sure never to double dip and even break the sticks they use into smaller pieces to conserve materials. You will feel some pain and a tug or two, but rest assured, the hard wax is much less painful than the strips (or could it be that the wine and numbing spray have kicked in?).

Following your wax, we highly recommend splurging on the Vajacial – yep, it’s like a facial for your lady bits. The Vajacial includes a customized mask of either “calming” with cucumber, “lightening” with the botanical lightening agents Kojic and Mulberry, or “antibacterial” with tea tree oil and pink clay.

Now that you’re feeling hair – er, care-free (and maybe a bit tipsy) you’re ready to bare yourself to the world– or at least the crowd at Toast where you can sober up with a light lunch.

Who said bikini waxes weren’t fun?
