The Friendly Planet Guide

The Friendly Planet Guide

You might be traveling on your own, but you are never alone.

It’s almost time for you to hop on that plane and jet off for a summer backpacking adventure. Of course you’ll want to load up with the usual lightweight, quick dry, day-to-night travel wear—who knows where the wind will take you, right?  In the end, however, it’s not just about carrying the things that can protect you, but the things that can connect you. This is the stuff that eco-memories are made of.

The Friend Maker

Stash a tennis ball somewhere easily accessible or a deck of playing cards for those bus depot moments. There’s nothing like the word “catch” to get a fellow travelers’ attention. Travel buddies who play ball are friends for life!

The Travel Card

You never know who you’re going to meet. From our own experiences making friends on the road, we recommend keeping a stack of business cards with your name, email and Facebook information so you can find your fellow wayfarers when the trip is done. Check out these eco friendly options.

The Good Book

You’re writing your own story! A journal is really handy to keep track of your budget, write down what you learn, places you’ve seen, people you’ve met, and other traveler’s suggestions.

The Camera

Watching spectacular sunsets or capturing some interesting sights is par for the course when you travel, you don’t want to waste too much time getting the perfect shot though, so it’s essential to have a good camera.

The Speakers

Bring some lightweight speakers for your iPod so you can trade tunes with new foreign friends, and start a party anywhere. Music is the universal language.
