Keep your skin well hydrated in these winter months and during holiday travel.
Dry skin is dead skin that needs to go! So speed up cell renewal and keep skin plump and hydrated for the long winter ahead. Here’s a simple winter plan for skin that lights up along with your festivities.
Limit makeup removal with water and soap. Water just dries and irritates sensitive skin. Remove unwanted mascara, liner and foundation with pure organic jojoba oil purchased at a local health food store. The natural Vitamin E properties in this essential oil will add deep hydration and protect your skin’s natural lipid barrier, key in the cold season.Increase cell renewal with a very gentle, yet effective at home microdermabrasion product to exfoliate dead skin cells. My two favorites are Apriori’s Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub Treatment and Eminence’s Pear & Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher. Gently massage the crystals in circular motions for about five minutes and say hello to brighter, softer skin.
Switch to a rich day cream and/or serum with these key ingredients: Jojoba oil (Vitamin E), Shea Butter, Pro Vitamin B5 and Rosehip oil to soothe and deeply moisturize. Some options are Duchess Marden’s Damascena Face Creme, A’kin’s Rosehip & Shea Intensive Moisture Anti-oxidant Complex, and MyChelle’s Deep Repair Cream.
Add a hydrating mist to your day. I keep A’kin’s Pure Rose Hydrating Mist at the office and spritz a few times when I feel the air gets dry around me. This will instantly tone, refresh and add hydration instead of adding layers of cream.
Finally, avoid caffeine as much as possible as this is an inflammatory drink that can irritate and dehydrate your skin. Instead, drink the recommended eight glasses of water a day and choose antioxidant rich white tea. White tea is one of your best hot beverage options because it’s the least processed and has very little caffeine, about 1% of a cup of coffee. Plus it’s heavy with antioxidants to block those nasty free radicals.
Cheers to happy, hydrated holidays!
