Love Your Lashes the Eco Way

Keep Parabens Away From Your Peepers

True Story: the first idea we ever had for an article for Your Daily Thread was a roundup of the best TRULY natural mascaras. It only took us 700 + articles to get there but hey, better later than never, right?  Mascara is such a staple for most women when it comes to cosmetics, and who wants junk like parabens and other stuff so close to their precious peepers?

So without further ado (as this has taken long enough as it is), here are our team’s favorite truly natural mascaras tried, tested and approved.

Mineral Fusion Lengthening Mascara$14. Who needs a lash curler? That is exactly what you don’t need when you use Mineral Fusion. This Mascara delivers clump free cover, volume and a little curl. I recently lost my lash curler and since I use this, I haven’t picked up a new one. Word to the wise, a little goes a long way and give it a few minutes to dry before you bat your eyes. If you like voluptuous lashes this product is perfect day and night. We love that it’s easy to find at Whole Foods too. And it’s the least expensive of the bunch.

Josie Maran GOGO Mascara $22.

This product is great for daytime with its subtle look, clump-free application, and quick dry without smearing, bleeding or running. Argan oil plumps and curls and the patented V-shaped brush delivers the product evenly.  We love Argan oil.

Tarte Lash Hugger Mascara $18.

You don’t need gross stuff on your lashes to make them look luxe. Tarte’s Lash Hugger proves it.  We love this for evening…a dramatic fake eyelash look. It’s also sans clumps, bleeds or runs, using Rice Bran wax to lengthen lashes and a brush-type applicator to comb through them. The recycled aluminum package is a bonus.

Honorable Mention…

Lavera Mascara $18. For a long time this was a staple for the YDT co-founders. The product goes on easily, doesn’t clump and looks great. Sometimes though it would come off easily, especially after long days.  Still a better alternative to Cover Girl.

These may be a little better than your traditional store-bought mascara, but they still don’t meet my strict standards for products I will use. You should try Real Purity mascara. It has all natural ingredients (all of which I can pronounce!) and it is the only mascara I can wear! It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all.
