Nothing quite conjures up comfort food like the thought of delicious meatballs covered in sauce. Apparently these days comfort is all the rage.
With the Taste of Beverly Hills happening next week, YDT was lucky to get a preview of what is guaranteed to be one of the yummiest items to grab and grub: The turkey meatball sandwich from Cabbage Patch.
I sat down with executive chef Samir Mohajer to learn more about the meatball craze and the overall menu at Cabbage Patch. Samir’s impressive resume includes stints at notable market focused L.A. dinning establishments – Rustic Canyon, Axe and The Little Door
“You’re getting the same quality of food, at a fraction of the cost” Samir shares. Indeed Cabbage Patch sources from the Santa Monica Farmer’s market and seeks out sustainable meat options like beef, lamb and pork from Niman Ranch and chicken from Jidori.
Juicy turkey meatballs covered in mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, in house roasted peppers and home made plum tomato sauce and served in a locally baked French roll made my mouth salivate the moment the plate was placed before me. The side dish of tangy mayo-free cold slaw was a pleasant addition. I especially enjoyed the crunchy peanuts.
One bite lead to another and before I knew it I had a plate that looked like it was licked clean.
The verdict: mmmm meatballs are here to stay.
Be sure to check them out at the Taste of Beverly Hills happening from Thursday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 5th.
or regularly Monday through Saturday at Cabbage Patch in Beverly Hills.
Be forewarned…the meatballs have a reputation of selling out.
Visit Cabbage Patch in Beverly Hills, Playa Vista and coming soon to Downtown this fall.

Mmmmm! My mouth is watering for meatballs. I saw “Eat, Pray, Love” a couple of weeks ago and I can’t seem to get enough spaghetti and meatballs. Cabbage Patch is on my bucket list!
Thank you!
