Weekend Guide
Hot Fun in the Summertime
Yoga on the Beach
After last weekend’s Fourth of July BBQ, you may be feeling anything but bikini ready. So put on your yoga gear, grab your mat, stash that swimsuit of yours in your reusable tote, and then make your way over to the Annenberg Community Beach House for a morning of sand, sun and Vinasa. Why? Now that you’ve got those feel good endorphins flowing, you can confidently strut your stuff on Santa Monica beach.
Location: 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, CA 90402 (directions) Date/Time: Classes take place every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Please check the website for details Cost: $15 per class Web: http://beachhouse.smgov.net/.
Get your Ice Kreme
Dairy lovers who are (alas!) lactose intolerant and vegans will unite in sweet savory joy over KindKreme’s non-dairy, raw, organic, and vegan ice “kreme” shop in Studio City. Try the Brownie Sundae (made with Raw or Vegan Brownie, choice of Icekreme, and Raw Chocolate or Caramel Syrup) or any one of the shakes, smoothies or freshly squeezed fruit juices. Why? Your tummy – and the animals! – will thank you for it.
Location: 3701 Cahuenga Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604 (map) Date/Time: Open Monday-Sunday. Please see website for store hours Web: http://www.kindkreme.com/.
Spoke(n) Art
Bike your way on over to the Flying Pigeon LA/Bike Oven complex in Los Angeles for their Spoke(n) Art bicycle ride. On the second Saturday of every month art galleries lining the streets of North East Los Angeles keep their doors open late while cyclists ride from gallery to gallery, satisfying their love for art and cycling. Why? End the evening with “cheap beer, flaming piñatas,” and “kiddie bike races” at the after party.
Location: 3714 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065 Date/Time: Saturday, July 10, meet at 6:00 p.m. and ride at 6:30 p.m. Cost: Free Web: http://bikeoven.com/spokenart/.
Viva Venice!
You don’t want to miss out on this weekend’s Venice Eco-Fest! With all-day drinking and dancing, an eco-fashion show, eco-exhibits and an organic, vegetarian and vegan food court, you’ll have yourself one great green time! Why? Bring your friends and family to the YDT booth and they’ll be entered to win an eco-fabulous giveaway when they sign up for our free daily email.

A Perfect Pairing
“I’ll have a glass of Pinot Noir” says the man seated to your left. “I’ll have a Sauvignon Blanc,” says the woman leaning over your shoulder. You frantically rack your brain for what you’re in the mood for and come up with…nothing. Not to worry, the bartender at newly opened wine bar, Covell, is happy to pair you with the glass of your dreams. Why? It’s a match made in Los Feliz.
Location: 4628 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027 Date/Time: See website for details Web: http://www.barcovell.com/index.html
