Saturdays Off The 405

Take the Next Exit

After all the time you’ve spent stuck in traffic, who would think you’d actually choose to hit the 405 on your time off? Don’t worry, you won’t actually hang out on the freeway, but you may have to take it to get to the Getty Museum for Saturdays Off the 405. Why? Grab a Getty-tini from the cash bar and take in views of the cities, while rocking out – or laying down, if you prefer – to DJ sets and live bands.

Location: The Getty Center, 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, California 90049 (Directions) Date/Time: Saturday, June 12 from 6 to 9 p.m Cost: This event is free, as is parking after 5:00 p.m. Web: http://www.getty.edu/.

Parfum De You

Some people like a musky perfume/cologne. Others like the scent of roses. I happen to prefer a hint of citrus. Whatever your preference may be, KleanSpa’s Blending Bash will allow you to create the perfect signature scent to tickle your senses. Why? Everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker to Mariah Carey has one, so why shouldn’t you?

Location: MINDFULnest, 3319 West Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505 Date/Time: Sunday, June 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost: $35/person Booking: To book an appointment please call (818) 840-0123 or sign up online. Web: http://www.kleanbathandbody.com.

The Big Parade is Calling Your Name

Thinking of going for a walk? How about a 35-mile walk? That’s what those attending the Big Parade intend to do. Starting downtown, at the Angel’s Flight Stairway, ambitious Angelenos will make a 35-mile trek through the city – which includes about 101 Los Angeles stairways – ending up at the Hollywood Sign. Why? You don’t have to walk the full 35 miles; designated meeting points will be set up so you and friends can join the walk at any time!

Location/Date/Time: This is a two day event. Meet at Angel’s Flight Stairway, located at the corner or 4th and Hill streets in Downtown Los Angeles, on Saturday, June 12 at 8 a.m. Please see the Big Parade website for different meet up locations and times along the way. Cost: Free Web: http://www.bigparadela.com/.

Got Pride? L.A. Sure Does

How do you fit 40 years of pride into one weekend? LA PRIDE 2010, of course. Los Angeles’ LGBT community will come together in the heart of West Hollywood to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Christopher Street West organization, the 41st  anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion and the 25th anniversary of the City of West Hollywood. Dance pavilions and performances by featured artists such as Kelis and En Vogue (remember them?)  will take place throughout the weekend. On Sunday, June 13, different organizations will wear their pride on their sleeves – or chests, booty shorts and boas– as they march down Santa Monica Blvd. during the LA PRIDE Parade. Why? No H8. Only Pride.

Location: The LA PRIDE Festival will be held on San Vicente Blvd. between Santa Monica Blvd. and Melrose Ave. The LA PRIDE Parade steps-off at Crescent Heights and ends at Robertson Blvd. Date/Time: Saturday, June 12 from 12 noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. . Purchase tickets here. Web: http://lapride.org.
