Beauty & Style
A green girl can’t always have it all, or can she? Though natural makeup has come a long way, it often leaves me dissatisfied with either performance, longevity, or color options.
But I’ve discovered one company that really delivers: Vapour Organic Beauty.
It all began this winter in New Mexico. While browsing the shops in Taos, I stumbled into a skin care shop where I tested the foundation from Vapour’s line. The feel of the foundation was creamy and yet light. As for the look, it smoothed out my complexion without masking it.
But best of all, I learned that Vapour boasts impressive green creds:
- Made with food-grade certified organic ingredients that are biodegradable
- Colors produced with mineral pigments
- Manufactured using wind-power
- Uses packaging that’s either recyclable or made from recycled content
I couldn’t resist and found myself taking home a most unexpected souvenir from my vacation: Vapour’s Atmosphere Luminous Foundation.
Since that purchase, my Vapour collection has grown to includes their Stratus Instant Skin Perfector, Illusionist Concealer, and Aura Multi Use Blush.
But how does Vapour hold up when it comes to the natural makeup “problem areas”?
Performance: With Vapour, my skin looks like my own, just a little smoother and more even. Though I was skeptical at first, the creamy Stratus Instant Skin Perfector really does even and brighten the skin tone.
Longevity: Each product blends seamlessly, holding up well for day and, when topped with a bit of powder, lasting beautifully for a night out.
Color options: I usually steer clear of blush, but theirs imparts a dewy, flushed glow. I’m eager to try out their eye and lip options with colors that range from subtle to bright.

I was so excited about their products until I read the ingredients and discovered carmine. I hope they consider vegetarian formulations in the future.

Great review Angie! Your experience inspired me to buy some Vapour foundation and skin perfector for myself. Love the results…my skin looks fresh and dewy. I would recommend their products to anyone!

Hi Alicia,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your concern about the use of Carmine in Vapour’s products. I did, however, speak with Vapour about your concern to learn more on their reasoning for this choice and thought it would be helpful for everyone if I shared it. Here’s what they had to say:
“Vapour does use carmine in select shades to contribute a rich blue red not found in mineral pigments. The company feels that it is a safer, healthier alternative to FD&C pigments and dyes. The FDA allows a certain amount of lead and other knows toxins in FD&C pigments. Toxins, like lead, can build up in the body with repeated exposure and contribute to serious health problems so we avoid them at all costs.
Worth noting, most Vapour products do not contain Carmine. Here is a comprehensive list of Vapour’s Carmine-Free shades:
Atmosphere (all shades)
Illusionist (all shades)
Solar Bronzers – Mirage 221, Simmer 222
Halo Body Spotlight
Elixir Gloss – Sultry 302, Hypnotic 304, Enigma 305
Siren Classic Lipstick- Knockout 405
Siren Shimmer Lipstick- Vibe
Siren Lip Adore
Mesmerize Eye Color Treatment – Flash 602, Storm 604
Trick Stick – Dazzle 702
Stratus I & II
Lux Lip Conditioner”
If anyone else has questions or concerns, please post in the comments and I’m happy to pass them along to my contact at Vapour.

Alissa, so glad you’re just as pleased with them as I was. Dewy is exactly the result I saw, too.
