Lifefactory: Glass Bottles Aren’t Just for Babies

Lifefactory: Glass Bottles Aren’t Just for Babies

Being born and raised in the early eighties, I probably didn’t have a glass bottle as a baby. Thanks plastics!  But many of you out there did and  glass has definitely been making a come back for little ones in recent years.

Now grown-ups can have their own glass bottle (sans the nipple) thanks to the new 22 ounce reusable glass bottle from Lifefactory.

Why Glass?

By know we should all know that many plastic, polycarbonate and older model Sigg bottles were found to have some traces of  BPA (a chemical which can increase the  risks of diabetes and heart disease).

In fact glass water bottles are your cleanest option when it comes to reusable bottles as they don’t leach chemicals and don’t change the taste of your beverage (as some metal containers do).   Even Umbra from Grist.org suggests to “go with glass“.

How Does Lifefactory Perform?

As an accident prone hiker, I took the bottle out for a spin and was surprised to see it stood up to my test (which included a drop on the floor unfortunately).  Compared to my stainless steel bottles with smaller mouth tops, the Lifefactory bottle mouth is big enough to drop in slices of fruit or ice.  The large grip handle was great for being on the go and was easy to use while hiking. Plus since it is clear, it’s easy to see how clean (or dirty ) your bottle is and it is dishwasher safe.

Aesthetically speaking, I love the unique design too. And at $21.99 the price is pretty good too.

The verdict: ” Go With Glass”
