Let’s face it, if you’ve never set foot on the bus it can seem a bit daunting. However, once you take the plunge and step on board, you realize how great it can be to let someone else do the driving.
Part of my Earth Day resolution is to take the bus more regularly, so we put together a quick video to show you how easy it is, and what you need to do to get on the Big Blue, Orange, Rapid or any other line that goes where you go.
We’ve also put together a quick list of resources to help you find which bus line is right for you.
Google Maps: Find a bus route for your exact location on Google Maps and check the public transit option (this is not an option for all cities, but it currently is active in L.A.). It also has maps for walking and biking too.
Metro.net: L.A.’s public transit website shows multiple lines (bus, subway, light rail). Great resource for L.A.-specific public transit needs.
Metro Trip Planner: (will also give you the cost of your ride).
Big Blue Bus: Santa Monica’s Bus Line.
Pasadena ARTS (Area Rapid Transit Service)
And if you want an insider’s view of the daily bus commute before you commit (and enjoy camaraderie after you’ve started yours), check out this YDT favorite blog: snob on a bus that we have recently featured on YDT.
Having problems with the video? You can watch it on You Tube here.
