Power to the People

On Friday, March 19, Power to the People will be hosting its “Swirl For Solar” fundraiser to bring sun- powered systems to rural Nicaragua. Try your hand at a bit of blackjack, or participate in the silent auction. Sit back with a glass of organic wine and dine from any of the gourmet food trucks in attendance while learning about Power to the People’s upcoming solar projects. Why? To help bring power to people who really need it.

See the world through Chris Arslain’s lens with the debut of his “Time Span” photography exhibit. Arslain, a street photographer based in Los Angeles, attempts to “manipulate the common view of the human environment” through his pieces. View his photography while listening to music by DJ Mat Fries and enjoying $5 drink specials at The Yard in Santa Monica. Why? A picture is worth a thousand words…and great tunes and drink specials don’t hurt either!

It’s time for a SewDown!

The East Coast had its Fashion Week and now it’s time for the West Coast to show them how it’s done. Dueling eco-designers such as Rica Adair, Good Garbage and Kittenhawk, will walk the walk when they send their designs made from recycled materials down the runway at LA Fashion Week Fall 2010. Top DJs will spin their music while artists, such as Scott Powell who creates “illuminated work” from recycled parts, will display their art. Plus, there will be a sample sale featuring 70s vintage glasses by Rock em Eyeware, eco-friendly accessories by Suli, and more!

Why? Eco friendly meets fashion forward.
