Nail Polish Round Up

Nail Polish Round Up

I’m not the type of girl who paints her nails all the time, but when I do, I want to be sure I’m not getting formaldehyde and other nasty bits on my nail beds.

Fortunately the last few years have brought some green innovations to the nail industry that are not only non-toxic, but last a long time and come in vibrant colors.  Here are a some that have made my must try list.

Priti: Priti isorganic nail care line that comes in a variety of colors (the deep purple is my favorite) and formulated without Toulene, DBP and Formaldehyde (known carcinogens).   From experience, the colors are vibrant and long lasting on toes.  Priti also comes with a lovely soy based nail polish remover that is 100% biodegradable and contains no petroleum.

……

Spa Ritual: Spa Ritual is a Vegan line also free from Toluene, DBP and Formaldehyde.  It uses eco-friendly packaging and printing practices and is made locally in Los Angeles.  The color selection is more in the pink, red and earthy spectrum, but has a good variety nonetheless.  The color lasted a few weeks before getting its first chip.

……

Zoya: Zoya is probably the most mainstream of the eco-friendly polishes.  It’s found in a variety of salons, even those that aren’t necessarily green.  Zoya definitely has the most robust color selection of these three lines (I heart the blue shades).  It’s also one of the oldest eco lines and one of the first to remove Toluene, DPB and Formaldehyde.  Made in the US, it boasts a popular reputation with the spa magazine crowd.  Plus, this polish lasted the longest on my toes without chipping.

So check these polishes out yourself and you too will see that you can have lovely salon nails without any salon chemicals.

I have to say after reading this article, I must add some more info for you. there are some other lines that you forgot to mention that DEFINITELY deserve the shoutout. Zoya is probably the best you mentioned in quality and lasting, but until you know about SHESWAI. Sheswai is a line that has been created by a manicure specialist that has been working on hands and feet for a very long time. If you are not familiar you should checkout the line and the creator at Polish Parlour in West Hollywood off Sunset. The hand and foot spa is the best in LA and is proud to be eco concious with all their treatments and product. Sheswai has had daily candy feature them and are written up all over for its incredible colors and quality.
My ism of the day is “Sheswai is the ultimate manicure/pedicure polish.”

Sheswai is awesome and I would love to support them, but I must say, they only have 7 colors and I like a variety, there is only one or two they have that I would wear. The packaging is really gorgeous, I love it. Hope they expand the line.

Priti’s polish remover without acetone is great, it’s what got me hooked on the line. Zoya has one but they still have a mild acetone in it. I like the variety Priti has, they have over a hundred colors. Really fun. Zoya has a lot of colors and I do like that they have been doing this a long time. I just wish they’d change their remover. Zoya isn’t as fun as Sheswai or Priti because the packaging isn’t as cute and you can get it at a lot of beauty supply stores, it’s not as exclusive.

By the way: I tried to look up the salon Paulaisms mentioned and found nothing called Polish Parlour. Is is called something else maybe?

I will have to try out Sheswai, I had never heard of it before :)
