Beauty & Style
So even though Southern California winters don’t compare with places like Buffalo NY, it doesn’t mean our skin doesn’t need winterizing. With colder air and stronger winds, skin and hair become dryer, more brittle and they need some TLC to keep away the Jack Frost look.
So to help you on the path to beautiful, natural skin and hair, here are our picks that will leave you glowing in a winter wonderland (without breaking the bank).
Steam Scalp Oil ($24): This is the time of year that dandruff starts inhabiting my scalp. To counter this I love locally made Steam Scalp Oils. They moisturize with jojoba oil and an essential oil aromatherapy blend. Simply add 10 to 15 drops onto your dry scalp and massage in. Let the oils sit for 20 minutes and then wash your hair as normal. The result is a beautifully hydrated scalp. They also carry a Steam Hair Oil and have instructional How To Videos in case you need some extra guidance.

Nettie Scrub’s Lavender Balm ($14): Nettie Scrub is a handmade line that specializes in products to help you relax. The lavender balm is perfect for hands and feet that are dry and chapped. I like to put it on my feet and then cover them with thick socks for the night. In the morning, my tootsies are prettier than Cinderella’s.

Lavera Faces Wild Rose Mask ($6.30): Unlike most masks that exfoliate, this mask does a lot of moisturizing. Using mango seeds, vitamin E and jojoba oil, it leaves your skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bum. Leave it on for 15 min and then getly tissue off. Each pouch has about three masks.

Chivas Vegan Lip Balm ($6): I seriously cannot find a better, more moisturizing product than Chivas Lip Balm. I use it morning and night and it keeps my lips happy all day long. During the day I top it off with a Tarte’s Lip Sheer ($14)that comes with SPF 15 and a sexy tint.

……
Juicy Beauty Mineral Moisturizer ($29): I love the lightly tinted mineral moisturizer with SPF 30. It adds a little glow to my skin and keeps me protected from harmful rays without using excessive chemicals. I pick it up locally at The Green Line Beauty shop in Hollywood.

……
Avalon Organics Vitamin C Renewal Facial Cream ($20.95): I love using this cream at night and in the morning before I put on anything else. The line is nice for California kids who spent a lot of time in the sun as it carries vitamin C, which reduces free radicals (caused by excessive tanning).
