Warwick Designs (an affordable, stylish vintage boutique in the Echo Park area) is kicking off a month of Eco Awareness tonight with the launch of “Eco in The Echo”. Local artists and designers who focus on sustainability and environmental awareness will be featured all month long. The idea is to show the community how vintage is sustainable–using what already exists to create something new.  Goodie bags will be given to the first 100 guests to arrive.  If you can’t go tonight, be sure to visit sometime this month.

Embracing its roots as a former recording studio the newest green buildings at the  Cherokee LEED Lofts are offering weekend tours from Saturday October 31st to November 15th.  It is the first historic space to ever interpret music through design–think Alice Cooper/David Bowie inspired green rooms.  The first 100 attendees will receive a free Eco-Usable gift as well.   Tours take place on the weekends and cost $10 (which is directly donated to Habitat For Humanity).

Green Halloween isn’t just for fun (and it isn’t just for kids), it can also be a great opportunity to see via fantasy how we as families, parents, and individuals effect our environment. Imagine the Jungle Book impacted by global warming or our oceans dried up, you’ll be able to at the Star Eco Station in Culver City. This Halloween event aims to make our Earths issues serious enough for kids while also being entertaining for their eco-parents too. Looking for a unique way to celebrate Halloween–why not support the creative film buffs over at Cinefamily who bring unique independent films to Los Angeles every day.  Scary compelations of strange scenes from Bollywood films will be screened in the first half of the night followed by a night of dancing from the “Blood Sucking Sound System” from non-profit music group DubLab.   There will be ghoulish giveaways, tarot card readings, franken stands vegan hotdogs, Dosa and Drinks from the Dosa Truck and more—booboohahaha

Who ever said you can’t have a healthy Halloween, especially when there are plenty of vegetables to go around. While they aren’t loaded with sugar, they are in fact loaded with nutrients that won’t make you crash and burn. Join Spork Foods on the official Halloween for a festive cooking class where organic items on the menu include ghoul shaped pumpkin sugar cookies with a cinnamon glaze. You can still satisfy your sweet tooth and you won’t have to put a Spork in it. Classes are held in Silver Lake and last for two hours.

L.A. Eco Salon is a networking group for green entreprenuers to come and “Show and Tell” about their business to like minded individuals.  There will be organic drinks, (Bring Your Own Cup Please) and an information table for all to share their materials (even if you don’t have a speaking time slot).  Bicycling, walking and carpooling are encouraged.  A $10 donation is appreciated and will benefit Water Charity.
