Our friends at Apliiq are at it again. You can join them this Thursday night from 7 to 11pm for a downtown Fashion Walk Dance Party. Bring in an old tee and they’ll add a bit of flavor to it with a touch of recycled fabric right on site. You’ll even save 15% when you mention that you read about this event on YDT. DJ Duo Mearii and KC Paradise will be spinning some tunes, we hope you’ll break out the moves. Your old tee never looked so good on the dance floor.

Organic Minimalism Art Exhibition
This event is for all Eco Art lovers out there longing to have their senses awakened and thoughts provoked. Organic Minimalism: New Bodies of Knowledge is a compilation piece of seven Canadian Artists—Ed Bamiling, Ying-Yueh Chuang, Jen Rae, Matthew Walker, Shima Iuchi, Paul Jackson and Charles Stankievech. The work combines sculpture, installation and drawing as well as video and photography. The purpose of this exhibition is to “creative narratives about transience, decay, growth and loss, and the emergence of beauty.” Art is more than meets the eye, and in this exhibit, it is meant to meet the mind too.

Got Water? A How-to on Water Conservation
You probably know by now that California is in the midst of a water crisis. And while that sounds a little scary, you can do your part to help conserve blue gold. Los Angeles itself has a variety of resources to educate on the subject and one of them happens to be a FREE event Thursday, October 15th over in Encino. Join a distinctive panel of experts including David Nahai, former Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, among other experts, and learn how to practice smart water management in both your home and business. Be smart and save water with tips from this educational event.

Friday Night Fun
This Friday October 16th, join Midnight Ridazz for its monthly bike ride. Bike riding in a group setting is a great way to meet more green guys and gals (and it’s healthier than happy hour), plus you can pedal out any leftover stress from the work week. You may even see a favorite green celebrity or two. Word on the bike path is Darryl Hannah once joined in.

Bioneers Beams to LA
If you couldn’t make it to the bay area this weekend for the Bioneers Conference featuring the likes of Michael Pollan, Dr. Andrew Weil and Annie Leonard of The Story of Stuff–fear not. The conferences is being beamed by satilite to Los Angeles for the first time ever. In addition to being able to see the different speakers, there will also be local speakers who will be touching on issues specific to L.A. (i.e. The LA Eco Village, LA Bicycle Coalation, etc). Our friends from Green Drinks, Eco Tuesday, GBN and Go To Green LA will also be hosting cocktail receptions from 5:30 to 7:30 each night. Check out the full list of speakers and schedule here .

Halloween Goes Green
Ever wonder what to do with your Halloween costume from 2002? If it’s seriously still taking up closet space then consider swapping it this Saturday, October 17th at the Halloween Costume Swap in Hermosa Beach. Recycle your costumes with other attendees and end up with something new to trick or treat in that won’t impact the planet. This event is totally sweet without all the cavities from Halloween candy. Space is limited so you’ll have to RSVP.

Be A Green Walker at Aids Walk 2009
This year, Aids Walk is taking on a new shade-GREEN. You can now participate in this event to raise money for HIV/AIDS and at the same time save lives, save postage, save paper, save the planet. As a Green Walker, you’ll need to have regular access to a computer to download all the information and materials needed to encourage sponsors to make contributions online via credit card. You’ll also receive all AIDS Walk Los Angeles correspondence by email only. The walk takes place this Sunday, October 18th and will mark the 25th anniversary of the walk for this cause.
