Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to issue an order this week requiring electrical companies to generate at least a third of their power from renewable resources. Some critics are skeptical about this move, however, since Schwarzenneger is still planning to veto similar bills recently passed by the Legislature because due to their limitations on the amount of resources electrical companies can import from out of state; the purpose behind this restriction, lawmakers explained, was to encourage the creation of green jobs in California. The order anticipated from Schwarzenneger will likely have no such limit on the importing of clean energy. It is also expected that Schwarzenneger will include nuclear power as a renewable energy generator. To learn more about this issue, see the Los Angels Times article here.
