Orange County Choppers, best known as the custom motorcycle manufacturer featured in American Chopper (on the Discovery Channel) has released the first American custom-made electric chopper. The Smart Chopper features a 60 mph range, with a high speed of 100 mph. The bike charges at any 110-volt socket within five hours, but can be charged in about an hour in a higher power socket. The making of the Smart Chopper is part of an effort by Siemens, an electrical technology company, to reduce their high carbon emissions by twenty percent within five years.
