Weekend Guide
If you haven’t had a chance to check out conservation photographer Robert McGinley’s exhibit featuring, “natural landscapes that are threatened by development, and captures these environments at their most beautiful and vulnerable” then Friday July 24th, you’ll want to head down to the Blue 7 Gallery in Santa Monica from 6-9pm for the second to last weekend of the show which will end July 31st. The exhibit’s proceeds go to good green causes-Heal the Bay and Santa Monica Baykeeper, both organizations strive to protect California’s water resources.

Go Green, Spend Green, Benefit the Earth
Typically we shy away from promoting mass consumerism but this weekend, when you shop at the Green Life, 10% of the sales will be donated to Sustainable Works, the Santa Monica based non-profit environmental education organization. This Saturday and Sunday take a tour at the Los Angeles Eco Village. If you have not heard of this before, according to the website http://laecovillage.org/ an Eco Village is defined as “a human scale with mixed land uses which strives to close the waste to resource loops, support healthy human development, has multiple centers of initiative, and can be successfully continued into the indefinite future.” Pique your interest? Go Ahead, Take A Hike
You heard me, you can take an urban hike guided by the great folks over at the Architecture and Design Museum. Let Mike the PoeT take you on trails and treks through Downtown. On July 26th, you’ll explore the National Historic Monument district of Little Tokyo. Other hikes include a tour through Leimert Park and LA’s Westlake neighborhood.

Hermosa Beach Green Expo
End your weekend right by attending the Hermosa Beach Green Expo which will feature a concert by Rebelution to benefit www.onepercentfortheplanet.org. The event on Sunday July 26th is being promoted as, “a green concert to keep the earth in business.” From noon to 7pm, meet a variety of eco friendly business in the South Bay. As the sunsets, stick around to rock into the night from 6-9:00 pm. Be sure to say hi YDT who will be hosting a booth at the event.

Beers For The Bay–Next Tuesday
Need a good excuse to drink an ice cold brew? Then on Tuesday July 28th, you won’t have to look any further than the Library Ale House off Main Street in Santa Monica, which will have its last Tuesday benefit for Heal The Bay. 15% of the beer bucks generated from this event will be donated to the organization. You’ll even save $1.00 on Alaskan Summer Ale and if you are feeling extra eco active, there will be a beach clean up you can participate in too.
