The First Earth Day Weekend Begins

BLANKSPACES Celebrates its One-Year Anniversary

This entrepreneur’s haven is celebrating their one-year anniversary as a freelancer’s workspace and meeting place.  Tonight they’re celebrating with a party from 7 to 10 p.m.  There will be djs, drinks and the Kogi Korean BBQ Taco Truck will be making an appearance too (need I say more).   Hopefully there will be tofu tacos.

Beach Clean Up With Heal the Bay

This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Heal the Bay will be holding its monthly beach cleanup.  They’ll be cleaning up at the Santa Monica Pier which according to the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card currently has an F (and really needs help.)  If you’re an early riser join the Santa Monica Whole Foods Team at 8:30 a.m. for some snacks and meet link minded individuals who are interested in giving back to the community.

Topanga Canyon Earth Day Weekend Celebration:

Topanga Earth Day is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of celebrating the Earth.  There will be local food, vendors, bands, musicians, holistic groups, an eco-art gallery, yoga and more taking over the magical canyon on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Admission is $10 and there will be a free shuttle to help get you to and from the festivities.  For more information visit the website.

Another Dim Sum Bike Ride Please

Adam and the Flying Pigeon Crew are leading another Dim Sum Bike Ride this weekend.  You get to participate in a nice leisurely ride to Chinatown and chow down on the delicious Dim Sum from the Empress Pavilion.  BYOB (bicycle) or call ahead to see if you can try out a Flying Pigeon bicycle.   They are also offering a special right now, $50 dollars off of all floor models.  If you do end up buying a bicycle, you get lunch for free!

Universal Studios Free Eco-Fair

The event is taking place in front of the Studio theme park and will include free EZ (electric) Green Bike test drives.  GM will be there to educate interested individuals how SUVs can use zero petroleum and be free of emissions.  RockNSocks will be featuring its “funky footwear” that is made from regenerated cotton.  YDT favorite Path to Freedom (a non profit org) will be there to share the message “think globally, act locally” and will be showing off eco-inventions that will help you think about the energy you use every day.
