Beauty & Style
However, I’m happy to report that since I made a vision board last summer, started reciting varying weekly affirmations and even created lists of dreams that I wanted to become realities, things have totally improved for me. A year later I am writing, I am healthier and happier and I am making a difference in my community.
Therefore it was only natural when I met Debbie Spears, owner of True West Creative and Founder of the
T-shirt line, “For Me, Not You” I couldn’t help but become a fan of her shirts. The For Me, Not You t-shirt line is not just fashionable, friendly and fun. It shows that we are more than just the labels we wear-our clothes can in fact help us have purpose. For Me, Not You shirts are 100 % organic cotton and offer a variety of messages with designs that are printed on the inside of the shirt. Believing that, “Peace starts within,” Spears designed the line with the wearer in mind.
“Most people wear T-shirts with the messages facing others, and many of the messages today are negative. I believe we need to be more aware of what we are putting on our bodies and how that affects us-and the people around us.”
Whether you want “Peace/Harmony,” “Love/Gratitude,” “Good Fortune” or “Abundance/Prosperity” among the other affirmations available to choose from, For Me, Not You has something for everyone. A little positive energy goes a long way and it doesn’t hurt to wear your intention in style this summer.

And speaking of style, if you are looking for some fashion fun this Earth Day, April 22nd, 2009, then check out the “Sustainably Stylish” event hosted by Jenny Ferrera, Maya Fiennes and Tysa. The companies are asking all its eco-aware clients to bring their recyclables to benefit Alyma Dorsey in exchange for some fashion, beauty and spiritually stimulating fun. Alyma Dorsey is an aspiring US Olympic Volleyball hopeful who utilizes a recycle program to help the environment and offset the cost of her volleyball pursuits, allowing her to try and go for the Gold. The event will be held at a private residence in Santa Monica; for more information email jenny@jennywax.com

this is awesome. i love the idea of living breathing wearing for me and not to impress or conform to someone else’s ideal. for inner peace and harmony during the weary dreary toils of daily life, i like to remind myself of random philsophical sayings that uplift and change perspective, such as “it is better to suffer wrong than to do it, and happier to be sometimes cheated than not to trust.”

In the middle of my morning routine, I take a few moments to close my eyes and move my focus from my brain to my heart and feel it beating. I feel it reaching out to all ends of the universe and bringing back a hug to me. I hug it back and open my eyes. Amazing the difference it makes in my spirit.

Too funny that you wrote about this issue today! I just woke up this morning dreaming about a romantic getaway with my boyfriend. This sparked me to start journaling again after not having done so in over 7 months!!! I made a list of 15 activities I want to be sure he and I do together. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the day-to-day, month-to-month activities and we forget to make the time to do those things that most excite us. Renting Vespas is on the list! For me, I have to write down my intentions. It creates a sense of accountability.

Namesake of the book by Elizabeth Gilbert, I “eat, pray, and love.” I begin my morning with a simple prayer that He guide me through the day’s work; have a breakfast chock full of antioxidant berries, yogurt, or eggs; and say “I love you” to my family. We all have dreams, but I believe it’s how we travel there – and not the actual goal itself – that makes us stronger, a believer, and more at peace with who we are. And along the way, it is my hope to make a difference, however small, that helps others realize the strength and beauty within themselves.

This is a great idea for a shirt. Expand the self to expand the world. Peace within first to promote peace without. I’m really impressed with the design and graphics, which are only barely visible in the photos, but they really pop out on the shirts.
Happy Earth Day!

Weak idea – the 15 minutes will go quick
