Le Pain Quotidien: Green Cafe Sets Example

Le Pain Quotidien, a popular restaurant chain that originated in Belgium, is known for its bakery, soups, salads and sandwiches – but isn’t as well-known for its environmentally-friendly practices.

A member of the Green Restaurant Association, Le Pain Quotidien sources organic and local ingredients in their foods whenever possible to reduce the environmental impact of pesticides used in crops. The stores use reclaimed and recycled materials in the construction of its stores, install energy-efficient lamps, and use environmentally-friendly packaging. The restaurants also compost food waste and use spent food oil for biodiesel. For these reasons, Le Pain Quotidien has been recently honored as the most eco-friendly fast food restaurant in America by Greenopia.com.

The restaurant also excels at educating guests on the caloric value of its menu items. If you’ve been good that day, feel free to splurge on that delicious fruit pastry – and if your behavior has been less than exemplary, then perhaps organic oatmeal is more up your alley. No matter how you’ve behaved, you cannot leave without trying their delicious hazelnut spread, similar to Nutella but sans Chocolate. Delicious food, organic ingredients and environmentally-friendly practices put Le Pain Quotidien in a culinary fast-food league of their own!

.YDT is proud to have Le Pain Quotidien as an official food sponsor of the YourDailyThread.com Launch Party and Earth Day Awareness event.

We just ate at the Beverly Hills location today, and my fiance and i ordered the same meal, and both became violently ill. And, the service was horrid as well. What a nightmare experience. Maybe they need to be more friendly as humans, and cautious in their hygiene in the kitchen.

A Really Bad Day!!!
