I’ve been making September’s smoothie probably every other day for the last 2 or 3 years. Needless to say I’m obsessed and since I recommend the recipe to friends all the time I wanted to add a few notes about how I’ve tweaked it over the years. Here’s what I do…
Throw all of the following in the best blender you have (I use my VitaMix which is worth every penny) and blend until smooth consistency. If its too thick, add more milk this time… and next time just add less frozen fruit. (Its great to pour in a to-go cup and drink on the way to work!)
From Fridge:
- 1 cup of almond or hemp milk from Traders Joes (I think the Vanilla taste throws it off, so I use the Original)
- 1 big spoonfull of raw, unsalted, smooth Almond Butter (also from Trader Joes)
- 2 teaspoons (I’m guessing because I just pour it) of Udo’s Choice Omega Fatty Acid blend (when I run out, I use coconut oil)
- 2 handfulls of organic spinach (which I throw in the freezer as soon as it starts to go)
From Cabinet:
- 1 banana (can also chop up and freeze ahead of time)
- a dash of salt
- 2 shakes of cinnamon (“the secret ingredient”)
- 1 squeeze of maple syrup or agave
- Optional: soy lecithin, hemp seeds, bee pollen, maca powder
From Freezer:
- 1 handful of mango
- 1 handful of pineapple
