Minimalism and eco-consciousness are concepts that really go hand in hand. Less clutter and less waste are principles important to Vamp Bags, a Colorado-based accessories company that makes handmade animal-friendly and eco-friendly bags, belts, and wallets in sleek, simple styles.
Vamp Bags are made in the United States from a pliable European faux calf skin that are made within European Green Emissions standards, and some are treated with a lacquer that is water=based rather than a petroleum-based. Many of the materials, including the purse linings, are recyclable, and all packaging is made of biocompostable plastic or 40-80% post-consumer material.
Favorites from the collection are the slim Ambur wallet ($115) with a grommeted flap and the ultra-minimalist John messenger bag ($311). A bit pricey, but we’re excited by Vamp Bag’s plans to recycle customers’ used bags and in return, offer a discount on their next bag. Less clutter in design, less waste in function – we think that’s a perfect combination.
