Hi Jessie,

Thanks for your comment. We appreciate your concern and welcome your feed back. We're not trying to promote" fear based marketing" or hurt the nail industry. I am a big fan of getting my nails done myself. But, I know for a fact that last year I was at a beauty boutique in West Hollywood and I saw formaldehyde listed on an ingredient list on a major nail polish.

We also made no claims (nor does Recess Nail Salon) about having vegan or organic nail polish. We don't make claims on ydt that can't be substanianted.

With that said, if you go to the Environmental Working Group and search under Nail Products and Salons you will see this in the first paragraph.

"Have you ever walked into a nail salon and wondered "what is that smell?" or "should I really be breathing this?" Your instincts are right on. Nail polish, polish removers and artificial nail products contain a host of toxic chemicals known or suspected to cause cancer, reproductive harm, asthma and other negative health effects."

You can read the rest of the article and information here: http://www.safecosmetics.org/article.php?id=224

You can also search the ingredients or the name of your product on the environmental working group's data base to see if your products are toxic at all and what kind of side effects those toxins can cause.

The Environmental Working Group is a non profit organization who isn't getting paid by "organic" companies to spread false information and neither is ydt. We believe in educating our readers so that they have access to all information and make choices that are best suited for themselves.

In fact there are a growing number of nail products on the market these days that are acetone and formaldehyde- free, etc. This shows that the nail industry can adapt and succeed by making quality products with out these toxins. It seems that Recess is a pioneer in this field and that is why we chose to support them.

You are publishing information that is COMPLETELY false. Nail products have absolutely no link to birth defects and are NOT carcinogenic. The reason techs wear masks in the salon is because of the dust that is kicked up by their powerful drills. Who wants to breathe in any kind of dust?
Not all technicians use drills. Those that don’t do not wear masks. Contributing to the spread of misinformation about nail products only hurts the industry that it seems you are trying to promote. What you are other companies are participating in is called “fear-based” marketing. There is no such thing as vegan/organic nail polish. It is marketing BS, and educated consumers can see right through it.
