Make this Valentine’s Day Awesome

All right single ladies, Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples anymore. Green guys—a few of the following may interest you too, especially if you want the perfect gift for that “eco admirer” of yours. Here are a few options to make February 14th, 2009 your best Valentine’s yet:

(1) Start the celebrations early and support a great cause. Party hearty for Step Up Women’s Network on Thursday February 12th at the CO-ED Saint Valentines Soiree located at Social Hollywood. All proceeds benefit Step Up Women’s Network, a national non-profit membership organization dedicated to strengthening community resources for women and underserved girls. For more details or to buy your tickets online go to www.suwn.org or call 213.382.9161

(2) Capture your natural beauty with a photo shoot from Myra Vides photography. Myra, an environmentalist, loves to photograph her subjects outside where the natural sunlight can kiss their faces. For Special Valentine’s Packages contact Myra via email videsphotography@yahoo.com or by phone 310-980-4002.

..

(3) Prefer something a little more intimate? Treat yourself to a relaxing massage from Kathy Gordon, a bodywork healer who practices Shiatsu/Thai. Kathy believes that, “L.A. is a very high energy place – full of many people, much traffic, and endless activity. My bodywork allows people to slow down, to stay connected to their inner being so they can attract everything they need.” Who knows, maybe a massage with Kathy will help you attract the perfect Valentine? (4) Celebrate your skin and Valentine’s Day with the Romance Herbal Mask or Svelte Body Scrub from Golden Path Alchemy, the only company that synergistically combines gems, flower essences, therapeutic grade essential oils and Chinese and Western medicine www.goldenpathalchemy.com Get the girls together for an indulging spa night, try out a few of their other products and be sure to step out on Sunday with renewed skin and confidence. The single guys will definitely notice that being sustainable is sexy!

Oh Valentine’s Day—a chance to celebrate tradition with a new twist. You don’t have to do the predictable chick flick with chocolates, wine and flowers. Treat yourself to something that will last a whole lot longer and make you feel good. Valentine’s Day is all about LOVE whether it be love for our friends, love for our selves, even love for our planet.

My Valentine’s days tend to be a bit of a snore but I remember I had a guy I was seeing who was an art teacher for kids. He made me a heart with 20 different layers out of construction paper and I just thought it was incredibly romantic that he took the time to do it.

Sadly it didn’t work out, but it’s a great memory :)

Great ideas! That scrub looks fantastic! And vegan condoms??? Interesting….! Any ideas on how to find an “eco-admirer”??

Your Daily Thread | To A Lovely, Loving, Holiday Weekend

[...] In trying to find one Valentine’s Day event to include in the weekend guide I came across a lot of Anti Valentine’s Day celebrations.  I guess I understand that, but you don’t need to be with a significant other.  Hang out with a friend or love yourself (check out our guide to spending v’day with your girl friends here.) It’s a fabulous idea to have photos talen of YOU as a gift for yourself
or for the one you love, or both! Myra Vides is just the woman for the
job. She can capture your essence with her photos, and help capture
