Wow–we’ve ended the first month of 2009 and now it’s time to gauge whether we’ve been true to our New Year’s Resolutions. Many in my inner circle are trying to find ways to make more “conscious” choices this year. As I recently discovered from personal experience, EXERCISE can be a simple way to go GREEN while also being good for your body. It’s easy to ride your bike to work or to jog to your gym instead of driving there. After all, each small conscious effort plays a part for our environment.

Just ask Jada Kelly, a Certified Personal Trainer, who uses nature’s best resources to really challenge her clients and transform their bodies. Most Saturday mornings she teaches BODY PROJECT, an outdoor fitness workshop that incorporates cardio conditioning with strength training. To keep her classes fresh, Jada varies between teaching at Westwood Park or by the Santa Monica Stairs.”Running the stairs is a great workout,” she told me one day. “You can build your own workout by adding squats, lunges and push-ups between running sets of stairs. Switch up skipping steps and sprinting up each step as fast as you can. Sweat it out and enjoy the fresh air!”

I first met Jada last May. Her enthusiasm and routines helped me lose over 20 pounds in 2008. Now, I’m in the best cardiovascular shape of my life plus I’m jogging to the gym instead of driving.
