I actually had a fun time at the Go Green Expo last weekend. Despite not feeling well, I was entertained and informed during my time there. One of the highlights had to be the Earth Dome that was produced by Perf Go Green (Who was also the main sponsor of the event itself.) I had a chance to speak with the founder Tony Tracy and he shared with me how the idea for the company had come from his daughter. Perf Go Green creates plastic products (trash bags and even more products like ziplocs, kittly linner, etc) that will biodegrade in the landfill in two years. It doesn’t matter even if they are under loads of garabage, they begin to degrade the second you open it (though it takes a long time so don’t worry about your trash coming out). They are also expanding into natural cleaners, batteries (for which they provide you the resources to send them back for recycling) and more. I think they are a very exciting company that is coming up. You can currently get the trash bags at CVS and Walgreens and I believe they are in Wal-mart too.

The Earth Dome was a Musical/Visual display about Climate Change using one of the largest string instruments, guitar and an amazing violinist. I really enjoyed it and they’ll be touring the country so tell your friends to check them out as The Go Green Expo comes to their towns.
I also really enjoyed meeting the people at Synergy Clothing and Kate Organics. Really beautiful fashion designs from bamboo, organic cottom, hemp and other sustainable resources. Really affordable too! Definitely check them out online (They are based in Santa Cruz).

Since Valentine’s day is coming up I thought it would be nice to give my nieces a small gift so I got them stuffed pandas from Auroa Naturally. They are a eco alternative to traditional plush and fibers. They use soy bean and kapok ( a sustainable rainforest crop) to make the plush and stuffing. They are so cute and come in a variety of animals including endagered species.www.auroagift.com

I also met the fun people at Reuseniks Reusable Dry Cleaning Bag. It’s a clever product and an obvious solution to the excessive amount of plastics that are used at dry cleaners. I asked my local dry cleaner today if it was possible to just not use plastics, he explained that the dry cleaning plant was too dusty and that it would get on clothes with out a proper covering. He then encouraged me to go get a Reusenik. www.reuseniks.com

Lastly I came across Ghalia’s Organic Desserts. I had them at the Eco Gift Festival and they were just as good at Go Green Expo. For some reason eating a brownie doesn’t feel as guilty when you know it is organic.
Anyhow if you missed out on the festival, definitely check out these companies because they are doing good things.
