Active Lifestyle

Solution: Think outside the box. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be only about chocolates and flowers (check out our ydt archives for chocolates and flowers from fair trade and organic sources). You can make it a visionary experience! All night, the creative artists of The Do Lab are taking over downtown with their famed interactive artistic environment as they present Lucent L’amour’s Visionary Love Fest.
Date/Time: Saturday, February 14th from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. (How often do you get to party in L.A. this late?). Get your tickets early here.
Where: The event will shut down the entire 600 block of Imperial Street (From 6th to Jesse, including lot 613). You can view a map here. Worried you’ll get lost? They’ll have valet parking and you can take one of the many shuttles they’ll have running in and out so you won’t have to worry where you parked. An even better idea is to take the Metro into Downtown and then use the shuttles from there.
What: Three stages of live music and performances going all night. Headlining artists include Z-Trip, Adam Freeland, Marques Wyatt and J Boogie.
Plus, Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque will be performing a never before seen show made exclusively for this night.
Art installations will line the streets including a bamboo installation from Bamboo DNA, live digital painting by Andrew Jones and an Art Gallery featuring local artists curated by Mike Russek. There’s more: local artists from the Lightning in a Paint Can Project will be painting mural panels with 100% used and recycled paint into art work that will be auctioned off to benefit Sonic Muze, a nonprofit that provides musical instruments and art supplies for under funded schools.
Extras: Come hungry because a delicious array of vegetarian food vendors will be there.
Happy Hour: From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: the Happy Hour Art Show will take place in the gallery. Relaxing music will be played and drinks will be discounted.
If You Need One More Reason: The Do Lab artists are unique in that they allow you to experience art in different ways. Rather than simply observing, they design art in a way that it is all around you and you are able to interact with it-art doesn’t get more physical than that!
Enjoy your out of the box (though inside a few blocks of downtown) Valentine’s Day!
xoxo
