If you’re interested in watching one man’s journey to fight for bio fuel, this is a film for you. “Oscar contender FUEL is an insightful portrait of America’s addiction to oil and an uplifting testiment to the immediacy of new energy solutions. Director, Josh Tickell, a young activist , shuttles us on a whirlwind journey to track the rising domination of the petrochemical industry-from Rockefeller’s strategy to halt Ford’s first ethanol cars to Vice President Cheney’s petrochemical company sponsored energy legislation – and reveals a gammut of available solutions to “repower America” This screening takes place on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Go Green Expo. If you miss it tomorrow, you’ll have to wait until February 16th for it to open up in L.A. and Santa Monica.

It is finally here! The Go Green Expo starts tomorrow at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown L.A. You’ll find everything from home goods, tech toys, fashion, kids, organizations and more. Perf Go Green, the events title sponsor will be premiering an Earth Dome at the Expo. The Earth Dome is “An immersive artistic show featuring cutting-edge live music, film, and installation ART. The Earth Dome Experience artistically celebrates the beauty of our world and confronts the environmental challenges that lie ahead. The Earth Dome Experience is a wildly engaging installation that features live music accompanied by a short film projected on three screens. The show occurs within a mobile 36ft dome which serves as the perfect environment for this lush and enlightening experience. One of the show’s highlights is the “earth harp” and “drum orb”, creating an immersive and unique experience, never to be forgotten.”

I know it doesn’t look like it, but our Los Angeles River is in fact a living river, but it needs a lot of help from us. Join the Friends of the Los Angeles River in caravanning between the Sepulveda Basin and The San Fernando Valley (where there is no concrete surrounding the river) and Downtown’s “infamous” concrete canyons. Tours will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. You’ll need to make a reservation to attend.

In honor of ydt Co-Founder Lauren’s b’day this weekend, I wanted to feature one of her favorite pastimes, good beer. After some serious research (no sampling though, since I’m currently sick and can’t drink) I came upon a Silver Lake brewer that is featured at a Silver Lake bar. You can find at Skyscraper Brewing Company at Good Microbrew. Also Skyscraper Brewing Company is having their second anniversary party this Saturday at the Brewery. They will be doing a tasting between their 2007 and 2008 Winter Warmer Brews. Call the Brewery at 626-575-0770 to attend the anniversary tasting.
