Second Time Charm: DecadesTwo

Second Time Charm: DecadesTwo

Food & Fashion Finalist: DecadesTwo

When we think of second hand clothes, designer labels don’t often come to mind. As the old saying goes, “what is one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.” So if a gal from Beverly Hills no longer wants her Trina Turk dress and it still looks pretty decent, you better believe I’m going to wear it. So congratulations DecadesTwo, you win for showing that second hand can be stylish, fashionable, and recyclable. If you like DecadesTwo, don’t forget to Vote in the comment section below. Buying recycled clothing is not only cost-efficient, it reduces waste by extending the life of clothing items. But if the idea of rummaging through Salvation Army bins filled with faded T-shirts with tigers or unicorns on them just aren’t your thing, then DecadesTwo may just be your shopping mecca.

DecadesTwo is a vintage contemporary consignment store, sister store to Decades, which carries vintage couture. DecadesTwo’s carefully edited selection of high-end labels includes Hermès handbags, Prada pumps, and Chanel tweed blazers.

You can feel better about your new Gucci boots knowing that you’re getting a great deal while also prolonging the life of your fashionable accessory. As owner Christos Garkinos says, “Our entire business is based on recycling–in a very high fashion way.” No wonder the DecadesTwo tagline is “Hunt. Gather. Recycle.”

You could spend hours perusing the racks of Marni tops and Dior gowns in this elegant boutique. But you definitely won’t find a t-shirt screenprinted with tigers, unless it’s by Dolce & Gabbana.

It seems to me that often the most green thing to do is use what has already been created. I love vintage clothes and I’m curious to see what is going on at DecadesTwo…good pick!
