Active Lifestyle

Despite how much I love city life here in L.A., there are times when it can get monotonous. I’ll be honest, I have a travel bug. After all it’s part of the balanced equation for an active lifestyle. Fortunately, I’ve discovered a new place locally that can be any traveler’s home away from home.
Walking down W. 3rd Street one day between La Cienega and Crescent Heights, my eye was caught by a gem amidst the high-end boutiques, The Traveler’s Bookcase, a travel book and accessory store.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned globetrotter planning your fourth expedition around the world, or heading out on your first road trip out of state, this shop has everything you need. You’ll find very brand of travel book from Lonely Planet to Frommer’s, a variety of maps and atlases, travel novels, and even accessories like the ever popular Lug Nap Sac, an awesome two in one pillow/blanket setup that is perfect for planes, trains, automobiles, or even a park bench (should you end up in Pamplona, Spain during the running of the bulls and can’t get a room for the night)
The shop is also a great place to meet like-minded travelers like yourself. The Bookcase also offers a quarterly flyer and book readings with drinks and food from authors from around the world. Kids funday Sunday every Sunday at 11 a.m. Kids get milk and cookies and are read books from different countries around the world. Experiences like these can be a mini-vacation when life doesn’t let you get away, and a source of inspiration while you plan and prepare for you next big adventure.
Happy Trails!

Love this place!

I just went to my first Book Reading here (on “No God but God”) and I was very impressed with (1) the turnout (it’s a small place, but it was packed!), (2) the fact that they had free food and drinks, and (3) most importantly, the quality of the discussion and QA. I felt like I was back on a college campus
I recommend making it a monthly tradition.

Also, has anyone ever used the Lug’s Napsack Pillow. It looks to good to be true – I NEED one!
