East Side Luv Burlesque

GET SOME LOVE: East Side Luv Burlesque Show

The popular art of Burlesque is having a major Renaissance here in Los Angeles, and you can catch some of the best our city has to offer on Saturday nights at East Side Luv. The bar is soaked in red wallpaper and leather, and though it is off the beaten path it is definitely worth the trek. The bar offers 25 different wines by the glass, and sangria that is to die for!

East Side Luv is located at 1835 East 1st St. (and Boyle), Downtown L.A., 90033. Phone: (323) 252-7442. Web: www.eastsideluv.com. Saturday night show starts at 8 p.m.

LISTEN: The Faint at the Fonda

There aren’t two things in the world that could get me more pumped than The Faint and the Fonda. This Thursday and Friday you can catch this Omaha, NB band here in L.A. Casual sex may be irrational, but getting tix to this show is probably the most rational decision you could make. If you don’t know The Faint already, check them out on at www.thefaint.com or at iTunes. If you like The Rapture or Bloc Party, I promise you will love The Faint.

The Fonda is located at 6126 Hollywood Blvd. (and Gower), Hollywood, 90028. You can buy tix online here.

EAT: Green Corn Tamales at El Cholo

If you haven’t already stopped by El Cholo for their seasonal sweet green corn tamales then get your giddy up on before they’re gone for another year. This annual tradition lasts through October, and during this time you can also catch El Cholo’s very own Mariachi band on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

El Cholo has two locations: 1121 S. Western Ave. (and 11th), Downtownish 90006 and 1025 Wilshire Blvd. (and 10th), Santa Monica 90401.

SEE: Sixteen Candles in the Cemetery

Saturday August 9th Cinespia brings you the 80′s classic, Sixteen Candles. Nothing is more touching than the story of a gawky, redheaded teen trying to win the love of the popular boy at school. The Cemetery is a fun outing: bring blankets, wine, and friends for a good time. Gates open at 7:30 p.m., with a DJ spinning before and the movie starting at sunset.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd. (and Gower), Hollywood 90038. For more info, click here.
