Active Lifestyle
We all start out living in water. I’ve even heard some people suggest that infants innately know how to swim. Plus, our bodies are composed of 70% water, so being surrounded by it feels a lot like home. And who doesn’t want to take a dip when it’s sweltering outside?
Swimming offers great benefits for the body. You can achieve a complete cardio work out without the impact that activities like running or boxing do to your joints and back. It also allows for reflecting time, as it is difficult to be distracted by anything else with your head in the pool.If you don’t have access to a private pool, you are in luck. Los Angeles has an array of city pools. Many offer free swimming classes and even have swim teams. If doing laps isn’t your thing, there is usually a section of the pool devoted solely to lounging. Check out a list of community pools here. You can see pool information for the following incorporated cities by clicking on each city’s name: West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Calabasas, Culver City, Manhattan Beach.
For more information, check out the citywide Aquatics Page.
Please feel free to add any more pools you know of and any programs they offer by clicking “Thread with Us” below.
