Bay Area native Melissa Joy Manning’s passion is making beautiful jewelry, and we love her elegant pieces even more for being environmentally-responsible. Influenced by indigenous and non-Western cultures, her handmade designs incorporate gold and silver with semi-precious and precious stones, as well as found objects. As a “green” jeweler, she uses only environmentally friendly-materials, including metals produced with a refining process that generates up to 75% fewer waste products. In addition, much of the gold in her jewelry is sourced from post-production scrap.

Handmade in her Oakland studio, many of MJM’s most inspired pieces are made from one-of-kind reclaimed and recycled pieces, including naturally shed animal teeth and bones, which give her jewelry an edgy, earthy, and still very elegant and luxurious feel that transitions easily from day to night.
