EAT: at Andiamo in Silverlake all day Saturday.
This Italian restaurant with a 4-star chef emphasizing organic menu options, fair trade coffee, and biodegradable take-out dining ware, will open on Saturday with a full day of fun and food. There will be bands, DJs, a new photography exhibition and a free raffle with gifts from local business like Paradise Nails, Orange 20 Bikes, Front Street Clothing Store, Sugar Hair Salon, Anna Kaye Shiatsu and Pazzo Gelato. Free food specials all day until the tasting menu starts at 6:00 p.m. BYOB/W/A with no corkage fee. Say hi to Casey and tell him we think he’s doing a good job. More info at www.andiamotogo.com
SHOP: at Clout Rideshop in Malibu Saturday night from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Pink Cloud Events is partying with Clout Rideshop Malibu to celebrate their grand re-opening. The 2,800 sq ft. store has been completely gutted and rebuilt exclusively with materials donated from torn down Malibu beach homes and rescued items from local marine junkyards to be a creative and fun place to shop for surfboards, skateboards and quite possibly your summer love. WATCH: Environmental films at the L.A. Film Festival Saturday.
The first weekend of the L.A. Film Festival is happening in Westwood Village. Saturday afternoon at Mann Theater offers The Garden, a movie about South Central farmers fighting against eviction, and Saturday night at the Majestic Crest Theater will be the summer preview of Warner Herzog’s film about Antarctica, Encounters at the End of the World. THINK: with the Los Angeles Idea Project (LA-IP) Sunday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Some of the greatest L.A. minds from a wide range of disciplines are coming together at Barnsdall Art Park up in the Los Feliz hills to talk on topics as diverse as sustainable land use, human trafficking and, most importantly, imagination as a powerful tool to change lives. The LA-IP brings dynamic Angelenos together for one whole day every year to share their spark of imagination. More info at www.la-ip.com and http://www.ted.com/.
