Locks Of Love

Locks Of Love

Ladies and gentlemen that have extra long locks typically find it difficult to part with more than three inches when visiting their stylist. It is understandable since hair has the ability to give men and women a sense of confidence when deemed they are having a “good hair day.” I was recently inspired by my six-year old cousin, Paige Milewski, when she cut her long brown hair so she could donate it to Locks of Love, the nonprofit organization that makes hairpieces for financially limited children that have lost their hair due to medical reasons. I would simply be gaining a new hairstyle while a child would be gaining a renewed sense of confidence and self esteem.

Since 1997, Locks of Love has been dedicated to making the highest quality hairpieces through the hair that is donated. Almost all hair types are accepted, whether it is curly, straight, permed, or colored with the caveat that it be a minimum of ten inches in length. The necessity for this unique organization came about when the founder, Madonna Coffman, realized that the hair pieces that were made weren’t suited for children; they were either too big or the style was not age appropriate. It is then that Coffman spearheaded Locks of Love. This organization has helped over 2,000 children all over the U.S. and Canada.
