VerdePaperie: Pretty Papers and Principles
While traveling around South and Central America learning Spanish, Daniels was struck by how many times a guide told her, “You should’ve seen this place five years ago.” Between that sobering experience and taking a paper-making class in Argentina, it became clear to her that it was possible to offer lovely paper without chopping down more forests.
At VerdePaperie you can find an assortment of products for those of us who still love to write and receive cards, and who don’t want to sacrifice our principles to do so. All of the designers Daniels work with are taking great strides toward using post-consumer waste recycled paper or Forest Stewardship Council certified paper, and some are even taking further steps like powering their presses with wind.
And why is what kind of stationary we choose important?According to Earth 911, producing recycled paper uses 80% less water and 65% less energy while producing 95% less air pollution than manufacturing virgin paper. That means that making one ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees and 7,000 gallons of water!
Check out VerdePaperie where you will find whimsical calendars and notebooks, elegant boxed notecards, and unique special occasion greeting cards including a handful for Father’s Day. Coming soon: custom-designed wares ala wedding invitations.
