PLAY BALL: Baseball and Fireworks

Join the Dodgers this Friday as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals. Grab a Dodger Dog, a margarita and a foam finger and have a blast. And if baseball isn’t your cup of tea, then go for the fireworks display at the end of the night. Why? Because in Dodgerville, every day can be the Fourth of July! Friday, May 23rd @ 7:40 p.m.

ATTEND: Bob Baker Marionette Theatre

If you have been seeking out a quirky event to attend, look no further than this puppet show put on by legend Bob Baker himself. This puppeteer is a Los Angeles native and has been creating marionettes since the ripe age of 8, and even served as an animation advisor to Walt Disney Studios back in its hey-day. The shows are Tuesday – Friday at 10:30 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

WALK: Art at Bergamot Station

The site, which was once a trolley stop from Los Angeles to Santa Monica, has been converted into a strand of galleries, making it easy to see a variety of art in one day just by strolling through the compound. You can easily spend an entire day there visiting the many galleries filled with photography, sculpture, jewelry, and functional art, and then finish the day off with a bite at the Bergamot Café.

WATCH: Ace in the Hole at Hollywood Forever Cemetery

It’s that time of the year again, when the Hollywood Forever cemetery opens up its great lawn to Angeleno hipsters for screenings of classic movies from all eras. This Saturday night is the first movie of the season, and they are kicking it off with an obscure Billy Wilder (director of Sunset Blvd. and The Seven Year Itch) movie, Ace in the Hole. Make sure to get there early for good seats, and bring food, blankets and drinks to top off the evening.
