t: green living: Livingreen: Healthy Homes
April 29th, 2008. Written By Connie Wu.Livingreen is certainly the ultimate destination in Southern California for sourcing sustainable and healthy building materials and interior furnishings. Ever since the first Livingreen store opened in Santa Barbara, founder Ellen Strickland has made it her mission to find alternative living materials that are healthier for residents and less damaging to the environment.
Livingreen emphasizes the importance of eliminating the use of harmful, even carcinogenic, compounds often found in traditional building materials. This has made Livingreen a haven for those interested in health-conscious, efficient, unique and beautiful interior design.
Store Profile
Filled wall to wall with flooring, countertops, wall coverings, energy systems, home furnishings, natural bedding and safe cleaning supplies, Culver City’s Livingreen is an invaluable great resource for remodeling ideas and the hub for sourcing materials to build a “green” home. Highlights include the lines of zero-VOC (volatile organic compound) paint lines such as American Pride and Green Planet Paints, mattresses free of synthetic and chemical materials, and energy-efficient lighting options.
We also loved statement furniture pieces such as aresin stool made with wood scraps from Culver City furniture designer CVS Woodworking and the Ford Brady “U” chairs.
