In Buddhist lore, the Bodhi Tree is the “tree of enlightenment.” Once inside Bodhi Tree Book Store, you can see first hand the meaning behind this.

For almost 40 years the Bodhi Tree has been a refuge and spiritual sanctuary for Angelenos. The store carries a variety of books on healing, wellness, alternative cooking and spiritual wisdom from all over the world. Unlike some bookstores, Bodhi Tree is welcoming from the moment you step in. You can grab a cup of tea, find a book that inspires you and sit down in a little nook to read.

Bodhi Tree is also a great place for social interaction and offers a workshop, lecture or event almost every day. You can view the full calendar on their website. Tonight there is a lecture by Wendy Kennedy on Global Warming at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $35.00.

You’ll also want to peek in the back and browse the used book selection. Many of the same books can be found there for a much better price, plus you are recycling.

Don’t worry about parking; there is free valet with any purchase over $10.00.
