In the wake of the budget crisis we are hearing about, an issue that hits close to home has just been brought to my attention. Due to the state of the fiscal budget in California, two of our Los Angeles state parks are on the list to be closed: Will Rogers State Park in the Pacific Palisades and Topanga State Park in Malibu.
Both of these parks provide great opportunities to be outdoors, get fresh air, and enjoy the local mountains and beauty that is such a part of California. In fact, Topanga State Park is the largest wilderness area within city boundaries in the nation with 13,000 acres of mo...

“It” purses come and go like this week’s gossip magazine cover girl. But
Ashley Watson handbags are designed to stick around – in more ways than one. Not only are the styles classic downtown chic, Ashley Watson bags are handcrafted from recycled leather from charity thrift stores.

The best thing about my Thanksgiving gathering last year, alongside the company and conversation, was the truffle scented mushroom gravy from
Spork Foods. For a handful of mouthfuls, it was all my guests and I could talk (or more accurately, moan) about.
Spork’s vegan duo—sparkling sisters Heather and Jenny Goldberg—offers inventive catering for party-hosters and nutrition counseling for eaters looking to go macrobiotic, vegan, wheat-free or the like.
And for the main course, Jenny, who was trained at New York...

Just because you care about the environment, doesn’t mean the contents of your closet should be limited to hippie Birkenstocks and hemp ponchos.
Summer Bowen founded
BTC Elements in March 2006 for that very reason. Frustrated with the lack of eco-friendly yet stylish clothing, she opened her own online store, stocked with incredibly fashion-forward pieces such as from the perfect weekend
