WATCH: Animated Shorts

Landmark Theatre has been showing all five of the animated shorts that were nominated for the Academy Awards this year. The last night is this Thursday the 28th, so don’t miss your chance to see I Met The Walrus, Madame Tutli Putli, Even Pigeons Go To Heaven, My Love, and the winner for this year, Peter & The Wolf. All five films have a unique sense of humor, and their own personal style of animation, a combination that will keep you entertained throughout the showing.

LAUGH: Stand Up at The Comedy Store

Headlining comics such as Jeff Garlin, Marc Maron, Pauly Shore and more perform each Friday night in The Comedy Store’s “Original Room.” The show starts at 9 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m., so you are welcome to stop in any time through the night,catch a few laughs and leave at your leisure. This show is known to have surprise appearances by veteran comics, making each week exciting and different.

SUPPORT: Good Medicine

The casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice are putting on an original musical for one night only at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The proceeds will go to The Solidarity Fund, which was created by the WGA to help support writers put out of work by the strike. Tickets are a bit pricey at $85 a pop, but just think of all the struggling writers you’ll be helping…. right? And of course if you are a Grey’s Anatomy enthusiast then don’t miss your chance to see the entire cast performing together in this one-time event!

LISTEN: Tally Hall
The band Tally Hall will be performing at The Troubador this Saturday, March 1st along with The Quiet, and Audrye Sessions. Tally Hall goes on at 10:15 p.m. and doors open at 8 p.m. Their music is fun, offbeat and uplifting, a perfect combination of sounds for this season as we begin to slide into spring. A new flea market has emerged in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles that features artwork and various vintage finds from local designers and collectors. The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust is hosting a walk for these two Downtown neighborhoods to aid in reviving parks in the area. If you live near there,this is an event you shouldn’t miss, as neighbors and other interested parties will meet to walk and discuss what needs to be done to renew the community.

This Sunday, pianist Nadia Shpachenko will be performing at LACMA’s Leo S. Bing Theatre. The show runs onehour and gives you the opportunity to see an award-winning pianist perform live, and what’s more, it’s free!

VIEW: Julian Schnabel’s Christ’s Last Day
In case you hadn’t already heard, the director of The Diving Bell and The Butterfly is having an exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. The mixed media show features x-rays and found art from Julian’s travels, including pieces he discovered on the coast of Normandy. While this event has been attracting a gross amount of celebrities, it is definitely still a wonderful exhibition, and a unique chance to see some offbeat art here in Los Angeles.
