There are salad bars, and then there is Mrs. Winston’s. Mrs. Winston’s isn’t your typical salad bar, for the following reasons: poached chicken, chopped herbs, dandelion greens, vegan bacon bits, several varieties of tofu, a dozen different salad dressings, golden beets and pretty much every other kind of vegetable that I’ve ever seen in my life. Yes, I said vegan bacon bits.

There are also delicious rolls, savory spreads, cheeses, and deli meats to make your own sandwiches. Mrs. Winston’s is a mini grocery store, so you can also choose from an array of beverages, fresh fruit, and snacks to go with your lunch.

One of my favorite things about Mrs. Winston’s, though, is their disposable silverware – the forks, spoons, and knives are made of completely biodegradable potato starch. As a special perk, on Fridays, if you guess the price of your salad correctly, you get it for free – but it’s not easy. If you’re like me, usually everything looks so good, you’ll end up spending more than you thought you could on a salad.
