Escape From L.A.

Escape from L.A. …Only You’re in L.A.

Angelenos know that their fair city has its fair share of problems, traffic and congestion to name two. So what better way is there to start your day than away from it all, in the middle of nature? Bike, walk, or drive yourself up to the hills of Runyon Canyon. It is a little piece of “urban wilderness” off of La Brea and Franklin in the Hollywood Hills.

The park has become trendy from time to time due to various celebrities who frequent it (it recently got press in an interview from “Ugly Betty” Star Ana Ortiz), but forget about the hype. The park hosts people from all walks of life who come to appreciate its natural, organic , southern California beauty.

Any desires you might have for a Fido who isn’t allowed by your apartment lease, or lack of time can be satisfied by all the free running dogs that you walk by.

No matter what part of the mountain you start on, the spectacular city views can’t be beat. On a clear day you can see all the way from Downtown to Santa Monica and everything in between. It is enough to make you fall in love with your city (again).

For more information please see www.runyon-canyon.com and www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=122

Park Location off of Franklin Ave and Fuller Ave in Hollywood. Street parking is available, but watch out for street sweeping signs.
